Samsung Frame TV art, set up & kept in sync

Everything you need to get museum art onto Samsung The Frame — first-time setup, how to resync when something drops, and clear fixes for every common issue.

Two ways to get art on your Frame

Manual — USB or SmartThings

Prefer the web? Download a 4K or 8K file and add it to The Frame with a USB drive or the Samsung SmartThings app. Works without the app.

First-time setup with the app

Four steps, about two minutes.

  1. Put both devices on the same WiFi

Your phone and your Samsung Frame TV must be on the same network. The app finds The Frame automatically over WiFi — no cables needed.

  2. Open the app and connect

In MP Art, tap Connect to TV and pick your Frame from the list of discovered devices.

  3. Press Allow on the TV

The first time you connect, The Frame shows a permission popup. Press Allow with your Samsung remote. The app remembers it, so you only do this once.

  4. Choose art and send it

Browse the collection or a curated set, open any artwork, and tap Send to TV. It appears on The Frame in seconds.

How to resync & reconnect

Art stopped sending, or the app can't reach The Frame? Work through these in order — most people are fixed by step three.

  1. Try one-tap Connection Repair

In the latest app, when a send fails you get a Repair button. It runs the full recovery for you: reset the connection, rediscover The Frame, re-pair, and verify. This fixes the large majority of sync problems.

  2. Confirm the same WiFi

A resync fails silently if the phone has hopped to a guest network or mobile data. Put both devices back on the same WiFi first.

  3. Update MP Art to the latest version

Many sync faults — the TV re-asking permission, the second image never sending, uploads returning an error — are fixed in recent releases and self-heal once you update. Do this before anything on the TV.

  4. Forget the TV, then reconnect

In the app, use Forget TV to clear the saved connection, then reconnect and press Allow on The Frame again. This issues a fresh pairing token.

  5. Power-cycle The Frame

If the app says Connected but nothing arrives, unplug the TV for 30 seconds and plug it back in. This clears a stuck connection on the TV side.

Clean-slate relink: Forget TV in the app → on the TV, delete MP Art under Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connection Manager and set Access Notification to "First Time Only" → reconnect and press Allow. This clears both sides and pairs fresh.

Troubleshooting common issues

The TV keeps asking for permission every time I connect

This is a stale-pairing loop, usually after a TV firmware update rotated the saved token. First, update MP Art — recent versions capture the refreshed token automatically and stop the loop. If it persists, clear the old entry on the TV: Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connection Manager → Device List → delete any MP Art entries, and set Access Notification to "First Time Only". Then in the app tap Forget TV, reconnect, and press Allow once.

"Could not send to TV" — the first image works but the next one fails

The connection went idle and the art channel dropped without the app noticing. The latest app detects this and reconnects-and-resends automatically, so update first. If it still happens, run Connection Repair, or power-cycle The Frame and reconnect.

"TV returned error" when I try to upload

The Frame accepted the connection but refused the image. The most common cause is that the TV's art storage is full — delete pieces you no longer use from My Collection on the TV (older 2020 Frames only hold around 480 MB). Other causes are a permission/disclaimer gate on newer models or an unsupported file. The latest app reads the TV's error code and shows the specific reason plus the exact fix, so make sure you're up to date.

The Allow popup never appears on the TV

The Frame is remembering a previous "Deny". On the TV go to Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connection Manager, delete the MP Art entry, and set Access Notification to "First Time Only". Reconnect from the app and the popup will return.

I have a 2025 Frame (LS03F / QxxF) and it won't connect

The newest Frame models use an updated connection protocol. Support for them shipped in recent app releases — update MP Art to the latest version and reconnect.

I have an older 2017–2019 Frame

These early Frames use a different image-transfer method than later models. The latest app handles them automatically; if uploads fail on an older Frame, update and try again.

The app says Connected but the TV shows nothing

The saved connection is stale. Tap Forget TV in the app, reconnect and press Allow on the TV, and power-cycle The Frame if needed.

The app says "No TVs found" but the TV is definitely on

The most-missed cause is a VPN. Many VPNs — and Tailscale or WireGuard exit nodes in particular — route local network traffic away from your own network, so the app's search never reaches the TV. Confusingly the device still feels online, because the router itself stays reachable. Turn the VPN (or just its exit node) off and search again. Otherwise check that the TV is fully powered on rather than in standby, that phone and TV are on the same WiFi and not a guest network, and that your router does not have client isolation / AP isolation enabled.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the app to put art on my Frame TV?

No, but it is by far the easiest way. The MP Art app sends any artwork straight to The Frame over WiFi. Without it, you can still download a 4K/8K file on the web and add it via a USB drive or the Samsung SmartThings app.

Is it free?

Browsing and searching all 940,000+ artworks and the curated collections is free. Sending art to your Frame TV and downloading in 4K/8K are Premium features — one simple yearly subscription.

Which Samsung Frame models are supported?

Every Samsung The Frame from 2017 to the latest 2025 (LS03F / QxxF) models. Different generations use different connection methods, all handled automatically by the current app version.

How do I free up space on my Frame TV?

On the TV, open Art Mode, go to My Collection, and delete artworks you no longer display. Older Frames have limited art storage, so clearing space often resolves "TV returned error" uploads.
